Members of Third Act Working Groups have partnered in an effort to directly support and shore up our fragile democracy. We started with a post carding event on March 3rd, targeted at the battleground state of Pennsylvania to remind voters that they need to re-register for mail-in ballots, annually. Our effort is a push back on not-so-subtle suppression efforts in battleground states and in Pennsylvania, specifically.

Our March event was very successful – we sent out close to 2000 postcards – and included participants from: Vermont, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Massachusetts and Maryland. 

As we march toward the November elections, we will continue to hold these collaborative events on the first Sunday afternoon of each month. Our next event will be April 7th at 2PM, Eastern. • Do I have to join a group, in person?
  • No! It’s a lot of fun with others but each event can be done in the comfort of your own home or with a group of your own friends. We join by Zoom – just for energy and support.
• How do I get materials to participate in an event?
  • There are a simple steps to prepare:
    • Acquire postcards and stamps
    • Secure addresses and scripts from Activate America (for in-person events, group leaders will provide these)
    • Join the first Sunday Zoom call (each month, reminders will go out before calls)
    • Complete postcards and mail (dates defined by Activate America)
    • Celebrate! 
• What campaigns will we target in the future?
  • We have partnered with Pennsylvania, initially, to ensure that voters have re-registered. As we approach each Sunday event, we will ensure that the most critical battleground issues are on our front burner.
